Our Environment We have developed a unique environment for a unique approach. Our community looks and feels just like home. Activity rooms and dining rooms are strategically located to encourage social interaction and involvement. We have created a balance of privacy and community. We have continuous walkways indoors and outdoors. The colors, lighting, and patterns are soothing to our residents, and our furniture has all the comforts of home. Activity Therapy Our activity therapy program is designed to meet the needs of each resident. Each program is developed specific to habits, interests, and past history. This enables residents to enjoy the highest quality of life. Community activities are scheduled throughout the day to promote cognitive, sensory, and physical skills. In addition, we have developed our program to provide one-on-one individual activities that enhance each resident's self care and independence with every day living tasks. Our goal is to create rewarding experiences for the resident, family, and staff. This stimulating environment is created to encourage residents to participate in the daily routines of a home-like setting. Basic Services offered to all Desert Springs residents include: 24-hour on-site staff 3 nutritious meals served daily Life enhancing activities Coordination of health resources Base level assistance with activities of daily living Weekly housekeeping Weekly linen service Apartment maintenance All utilities (except telephone & cable) Monitoring of resident's health status The Importance of Pets We all know how important pets are to our lives. We don’t have to examine studies by physicians and scientists to know that when we spend time loving our pets we feel better! Pets are loyal and lovable, and offer us unconditional devotion. They bring out our instincts for nurturing; we feel needed and relied upon. Our stress levels decrease, we feel accepted just as we are with no judgments. It is often one of the most valued relationships a person can have. While we as individuals may feel a variety of emotions, pets don’t have mood swings or meltdowns. They allow us to hold, stroke, groom, or just play with them, and are very good listeners! For most pet owners, the relaxation our animals provide us by just being there as our friend, enriches our daily life and allows us to go on with the tasks of living. Because we at Desert Springs value this time-tested connection people have with their pets, we invite you to have your small pet live with you at our community. We want you to smile, laugh, and feel good! We accept most small pets, and have minimal deposit requirements to make the necessary accommodations. Welcome home - to you, and your pet! Personal Assistance Our goal at Desert Springs is to meet each resident's needs while maintaining the highest level of choice, dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality. To assure that this is done effectively, an assessment is conducted prior to move-in. Residents, family members, and Desert Springs' staff work together to develop an individually-tailored Assistance Plan. A follow-up family care conference will be held regularly to assure that, as a resident's needs change, the Assistance Plan is adjusted accordingly. In addition to Basic Services, Desert Springs offers Personal Assistance Plans for those who need additional help with their daily routines. Some of these services include: Select diets or snacks Daily assistance with ADL's Assistance with ambulation to and from meals and activities Incontinence care Additional housekeeping services Medication management: monitoring, supervision, or assistance Safety and security checks Meal time reminders Medical appointment scheduling Periodic nighttime care Select diabetic care Health services: monitoring, supervision, or assistance Rental Information Apartments are rented month-to-month. No buy-in is required.
